We have a new SQL server has only TLS 1.1 & 1.2 enabled.

We installed SQL server on it with "Local system" account. Later we change it to a domain account.

User experience the "generate SSPI context" error when trying to setup ODBC connection on his client machine. ODBC setting for SPN is "optional".

My question is, why user have "generate SSPI context" error when "SPN is optional", why NLTM was not used instead of Kerberos?

I have been research and could not find answer. Any input will be appreciated. thanks James,
