I have MySQL1 (master) and MySQL2 (slave). Both of them are MySQL version 5.7.26 and GTID enabled. After MySQL1 is broken I failover the master to MySQL2 and this is currently running fine.

Now, I am thinking what options do I have in my current situation. The MySQL1 is far delay than on MySQL2. What I did right now is

  1. I have Nightly backup of database from MySQL2 where the --set-gtid-purged=off is on.

  2. I'd restored the nightly database backup to MYSQL1 which is so slow to finish.

Once it is restored, I am hoping that MySQL1 can catch up those long delayed transaction from MySQL2.

What would be the next step on this process?
