I have a third party system using Oracle 12C database to which I need to do data analytics.

For safety I don't want to do it to the production database server. For economical reasons I can't run another Oracle database server. For practical reasons I prefer to do it with a system I know better (PostgreSQL).

Is it possible to replicate a an Oracle 12C database to a PostgreSQL database? It is possible to do it in (near) real-time or on-demand but incrementally?

  • There are some closed source solutions for things like that, but you probably don't want to pay for that (then you might as well get Oracle). I'm working on an open source solution with ora_migrator, but I am not there yet. – Laurenz Albe Jan 27 at 12:32
