I'm working on relocating my mongodb data directory from its default path to a volume which is mounted from an SSD drive to achieve more I/O performance.
I know this fact that every day when I backup my databases and before compressing them, my backup folder contains over 50GB of data. Today I realized that mongodb data directory has just taken 16GB of my storage.
So these are my questions:
- Could you explain what's the reason for this difference? Is there any other place in which mongodb stores data?
- Is it enough to relocate mongodb's data directory to improve mongodb's I/O performance?
