I am using kotlin spring boot with MongoDB.

While enjoying schemaless property of mongoDB, I found out that I denormalized too much in one collection.

So I decided to normalize this collection by splitting into 2 collection.

How could I achieve this without shutting down the application?

I searched mongoDB migration tools like mongobee, mongock but these tools did not support complex data migration like this.

I am using Atlas as my mongo storage service. I have one primary and two secondary nodes.

I also searched that some companies(using SQL DB) would directly change one of the slave(secondary) nodes by SQL, then kill the master(primary) node to make slave node to become master node.

Is this also possible in mongoDB? And is there any handy tools to automate this?(although I must write mongoQL)
