Due to running out of disk space, I wanted to transfer 1 SSAS database (cube) to another disk that I connected.

In MS SQL, I am trying to detach and attach a SSAS database that I have just moved to a different drive following using the Move an Analysis Services Database documentation.

when I attach the database I get the following error:

TITLE: Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio File System Error: The following error occurred while opening the file „\?\J:\MSAS13.VBIDEV\OLAP\Data\Warehouse.0.db\Warehouse.detach_log”: Invalid procedure call or argument. (Microsoft.AnalysisServices.AppLocal.Core)

But if I check box "Read-only", the database connects without any problem error. But I need full permissions (write too).

I did this procedure the other way around, so I moved from the new disk back to the old disk (where this database was before) and made an attach there. It passed without a problem.

Is there any solution for my problem? Thanks :)

  • My guess is that the SQL Server is still looking for the log file on the original place. Please, check this article and verify that you accomplished step 3: "Attach the database by referencing the new location of the transaction log file". – Ronaldo Sep 30 '20 at 16:44
