I would like to upgrade Mongodb version 1.8.2 with replica set available ( 1 primary, 2 secondary) with same version to version 4.4 with no downtime. What are the steps do I need to follow in order to achieve the upgrade without any downtime?

  • withno downtime it will be impossible, because simply the gap is to big, basicakky you have to upgrade bit by bit and hope that everything goes well so start with 2.0 see docs.mongodb.com/manual/release-notes/2.0 and folow all the version upgrade tht are there till you reach the end – nbk Oct 22 at 19:37
  • I could be a challenge to find any download older than 3.x - and as noted by @nbk you need every release and upgrade step-by-step. Even the MongoDB Archive Releases goes back only up to version 2.6.0. Unbelievable that you run a software for almost 10 years without any single upgrade. – Wernfried Domscheit Oct 22 at 19:44
  • Can we export the data from 1.8.2 to 4.4 or backup 1.8.2 and restore it to 4.4? – amanullah Oct 25 at 7:08
  • What is your data size ? – Mani Oct 28 at 8:15
