I am seeking to understand what the ideal latency for an implementation of CDC in SQL Server Standard (2017) is.

The latency I am referring to can be found from the sys.dm_cdc_log_scan_sessions DMV outlined here.

The polling interval for this implement is equal to 1 day (86400 seconds) and continuous mode is being used as both shown from the sys.sp_cdc_help_jobs table.

I know the latency is defined as "The difference, in seconds, between end_time and last_commit_cdc_time in the session" but I am still struggling to understand what is considered an ideal latency.

I would imagine it would be either be near 0 as most ideal latencies are or it is ideally near the polling interval.

Please and thank you
