I use PostgreSQL 13.2 in AWS-RDS.

The database is up and working properly; I can connect with the user provided by Amazon.

We need to alter the catalog to enable the implicit cast of integer to boolean. One of our libraries uses 0 and 1 instead of false and true, and we have no control over it.

UPDATE pg_cast
SET castcontext='i'
WHERE castsource='integer'::regtype
  AND casttarget='boolean'::regtype;

It results in:

ERROR: permission denied for table pg_cast
SQL state: 42501

I tried connecting with the user rdsadmin, but I'm not allowed in pg_hba.conf.

Is there a way to alter the catalog, or are we doomed to install our own PG instance?
