Is there a query or report to see how often log shipping fell behind for a given month?

You would get anything builtin for a given month. You will have to rollout your own. A good start sqlshack.com/… May 13 at 13:53
  • What would you actually infer, I mean a LS can be behind for many reasons.

  • Actually, log shipping will always be "behind" as it take some time to restore the log on the target, meaning that by the time it does the restore, even if it's only 2 sec, it will be behind (by 2 sec in this case). What is the problem you are trying to fix ? May 13 at 17:02

Try querying the backup sets for the time restored vs. the time taken of each log backup. But as others have said, it will always behind. It’s a matter of how far behind it is. What will you do with the data? May 13 at 17:47

Behind by 2 minutes is fine. Behind 1+ hours several times a month is not. May 13 at 23:53
