In SQL Server 2019 we use Polybase to create External tables pointing at tables on another SQL Server. When I look at these external tables in sys.objects, they have the type U , meaning USER_TABLE. Is this normal behaviour? In the documantation is says that the type for external tables should be ET in sys.objects.

I have a SQL Azure instance that includes a database with external tables that reside in another SQL Azure database....I have the same behavior. It could be that "ET" is for external tables that aren't SQL Server, but Oracle, Access, etc.– MelvinLuskJun 23 at 17:13
