I am trying to load 90 million records into a mysql table and I am having tons of trouble. First I tried loading it from phpmyadmin (using LOAD DATA INFILE...) but that did not work. Then I tried with mysqlimport and that also did not work. Is it even possible? I know people have done millions, but how? Does the my.ini file need to be changed, do I need to do something special? Any help would be appreciated.

(currently running on Dell Optiplex 790 under windows server 2019, mysql server 8.0, with terabytes if disc space, but I can change to a LAMP if needed)

Please edit the question and define "tons of trouble". That is a poor description of whatever problem(s) you have encountered. Similarly for "did not work".

It should work, it will just take a while. I doubt there's anything faster than LOAD DATA INFILE.

  • The MySQL documentation explains exactly what changes are needed to the configuration files to allow LOAD DATA INFILE. Unless you are specific about the problems you're having (post the complete text of any error messages you see) there is little we can do to help

  • mysqlimport is just a wrapper around LOAD DATA INFILE

  • Did you also have LOCAL in the statement? What path are you loading from? What are the permissions?
