I am trying to create a DB link between Oracle and PostgreSQL using OCI.

CREATE DATABASE LINK oraedb CONNECT TO hr IDENTIFIED BY 'hr'
    USING oci '//127.0.0.1/xe';

CREATE DATABASE LINK

When I am trying to query the table using that link

edb=# SELECT * FROM emp@oraedb;

I get:

ERROR: unable to load OCI library: /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/xe/libclntsh.so:
  cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
LINE 1: SELECT * FROM emp@oraedb;
                      ^
HINT: Either the oracle_home guc setting or Oracle library must be in path
  at the time you start the server.

    Is the error message correct? – Colin 't Hart Jun 21 '14 at 12:30
  • Could also happen if one of the RDBMSes is 64-bit and the other 32-bit – Philᵀᴹ Jun 21 '14 at 15:51
