We are using OPENQUERY scripts to run MDX from sql-server. We're experiencing efficiency issues when we first run these queries each morning.

The linked server objects which link to our SSAS databases are set as follows.

Are these the most efficient setting for this context?

  • Since your symptom is "efficiency issues when we first run these queries each morning" it seems to imply that efficiency is better once the data is cached in memory. If true, does that help you narrow down the problem?

  • @RLF suspect you are correct. Although maybe using OPENQUERY across the linked server is tied in with caching: is this possible?
