Scheduled backup errors

Why are you using a batch file to backup the databases? Why not put the code in a SQL Agent job and have that kick off the backup?

Moving away from CmdExec steps in job without losing logging detail (SQL Server 2008)

Set the output of the T-sql job step to output to a file. It's on the advanced tab of the job step properties.

In the past to solve this I've created a web based app to allow users to change jobs. … Group's can't be used to own jobs as the job runs under the context of the job owner. There does need to be a better security model for jobs however. …
