You want ALTER DEFAULT PRIVILEGES.

PostgreSQL on Amazon RDS: out of memory error on bytea field > 64MB
PostgreSQL's handling of large binary fields is very memory-inefficient. It's quite normal for it to keep three or more copies of a given field in memory when procesing a row, albeit briefly. One TOAS …

What does exec(text) do?
It's a totally pointless function that executes arbitrary SQL. It isn't SECURITY DEFINER so the only risk I think it can pose is if you allow users to run arbitrary SQL predicates or call arbitrary fu …

How to migrate postgreSQL on EC2 instance to AWS RDS?
You can't do it with minimal downtime, or not easily anyway.
RDS doesn't support importing base backups and doing streaming replication to/from outside servers.

Why use RDS over EC2 for Postgres?
Like most things, it's a cost vs effort/complexity trade-off.
RDS is easier, but less flexible, and costs more for the same level of performance.
(In particular, note that there's no way to replicat …

How to schedule PostgreSQL replication?
You can use pg_basebackup to take a copy of the PostgreSQL database over the replication protocol. It copies the whole DB though, it isn't incremental. You'll want to use the --xlog-method=stream argu …
