Agree. I was always using the safest method however as the DB grows, the amount of time cost becomes more and more important.

Agree. I am trying the replicate the instance in another environment and reproduce the issue for MOS to debug

When I was testing, there is nothing running in the DB at the same time

Turn off the Performance_schema does not help. I tried to reduce the innodb_buffer_pool_size as well.

Sorry about the confusion. The Proc Schema is a schema where we put 30 production tables for data analytics. Every month we received new files and process them into these files. Because the sequence of the file processing is so important that once a file is missing or passed, we need to reprocess all the historical files.

We don't have a Master-Master replication setup. But actually I am looking at replication topics. What I did currently is duplicate the proc schema and do ETL there, once checked and replace the Proc schema with it. Currently we process data once per month.

Partitioning requires the PK to be the partitioned columns. The tables has many index, we will need to look at more on this.

We are using MySQL 8.0. When using the tables, we may need to refer to all historical data so I dont think partition by month will help...

I think getting familiar with commands based administrative tasks would be more helpful in the following career development and as for the GUI, I think I could still use the MySQL Workbench to connect via my local machine. Thanks

Thanks for sharing you hands-on experience. I feel like it is of more control to use linux as well.
