No users don't view the query, so I guess there is no benefit in my case to add it, except potential clarity.

Yes, there is a separate index with MyKey as the only column. Does it matter?

@Bruno Another option is to merge some files. My provider is not happy that I generate more than 1 million files.

@Bruno Content is UTF8 text in files of about 1k (with some going up to 50K, but a minority). Thanks for the info on 'like' performance.

@RolandoMySQLDBA I tried to open the file with Notepad++, but it seems like the content is binary. When I try to paste the 10 first lines here, SO only displays one unreadable character.

@Aaron I tried a simple rename, but I when I try to load the file, I get a 'The Pipe is being closed' error message after a couple of seconds.
